A word of warning to Sprint Customers

June 22nd, 2007

Red UpStageCurrent song: “Te Mando Flores” by Fonseca

Today I saw some guy at a Sprint kiosk in the Fashion Square Mall getting a red UpStage for himself and he was so disappointed when he finally purchased it and open the box to find that the battery wallet (that all UpStage phones bring) was actually red, just like the phone. Now, the red UpStage looks beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but that’s because it’s a chrome red, so it looks cool. On the other hand though, the battery wallet that comes with the UpStage is made of leather, so yeah…red leather? On a guy? No good. It looks like a woman’s purse.

So yeah, word of warning to male Sprint customers:
Don’t get the red UpStage unless you’re really secure of your masculinity

Byousoku 5 Centimeter coming to theaters!

June 21st, 2007

5cm per second (from ANN)Current song: “La Cumbia De Los Aburridos” by Calle 13

ADV Films (one of the couple “big” US anime licensing companies) has been announcing a couple of licenses that I am very interested in seeing how they will sell. This one is no different. Byousoku Go Centimeter ~a chain of short stories about their distance~ (AKA 5 Centimers per second) is Makoto Shinkai’s (director of Hoshi no Koe/Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days) latest movie and ADV plans on releasing it to theaters sometime before releasing the DVD on December of this year. If the movie is going to be shown in any theater close to me, I’m definitely going to see it, just to show my support.

According to ANN, ICv2 updated their article saying that the original news source is not them, but is in fact the current issue of Anime Insider, which has five pages of coverage of the movie and its director Shinkai-sensei.

TLoZ: Phantom Hourglass get’s 39/40 on Famitsu

June 20th, 2007

TLoZ: Phantom Hourglass DS boxCurrent song: “Don’t Matter” by Akon

Yes ladies and gentlemen, apparently the newest iteration of The Legend of Zelda series in the Nintendo DS is a smash hit with the Japanese people. The Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, known for it’s harsh reviews, gave Phantom Hourglass an almost perfect score. They way it works over there is that they have 4 reviewers, and they each give the game a rating based on a 10-point scale. Then they add each reviewer’s individual score and that’s how they get the “out of 40″ score for the games reviewed in their magazine. Phantom Hourglass’s individual reviews were 10, 10, 9 and 10. According to the Wikipedia article, only 15 other games in history have ever gotten 39/40 from Famitsu.

What does this mean for me? It means I’m going out to buy this game as soon as it comes out! Actually…maybe I’ll wait some time before getting it, since I still have to beat a couple of DS games (Final Fantasy III and the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings that came with my special edition DS Lite) and I’m supposed to be saving money to get a new car also, so yeah…now that I think about it I might hold off on getting this game for a while. Maybe I’ll wait until it becomes a “Players’ Choice” and I can get it for a cheaper price? I dunno, we’ll see.

Taking the week off, not feeling too great right about now. It’s funny…I haven’t had my feelings hurt by a woman in a long time, feels kinda weird.

EDIT on the 19th:

Feeling better now, I’m back in the game. Amazing what some alcohol can do to your mood! I’ll be back tomorrow with a new post (hopefully not from the Smash Bros. DOJO!!, hehe)

Bad way to start a weekend

T.G.I. Friday’s LogoCurrent song: “Lean Like a Cholo” by Down AKA Kilo

Sorry for not posting anything today (again). Had a LONG day at work (Got to work at 8:30AM got out at 8:40PM). Had to chill with my coworkers for a while over at T.G.I. Friday’s before going home because if not I was going to blow. It was pretty fun. We had a couple of drinks and talked about how much work sucked today, etc etc. I left pretty excited from the place since I agreed with another one of the coworkers to go to a Salsa Class with her this coming week, so that was pretty cool. I’ve always wanted to sharpen my salsa dancing skills. But then when I got into the car to leave, there were like 3 roaches inside the car! I was like WTF? So I squashed those bitches and headed home. Oh I forgot to mention, after I killed the roaches I was hanging my shirt in the back of the car and I didn’t do it quite right so it fell on the floor, getting squashed roach brains all over the sleeve. So yeah, great way to start a weekend. -_-

Another steal from t3h DOJO!!

Brawl - Crates and BarrelsCurrent song: “Mala Suerta con el 13 (ft. La Mala Rodríguez)” by Calle 13

I did it again! I fell asleep last night after getting home from work and forgot to do my daily blog entry. I should really try to do my daily blog posts before leaving work, so I make sure I make them everyday, regardless if I fall asleep or not. :-P

Anyways, time to use Smash Bros. DOJO!! as my savior when I run out of ideas again. This time it’s for a good reason, since the stuff posted today in the DOJO!! is awesome and got me really excited about Brawl:
So crates and barrels…they’ve always been a part of the Smash Bros. series but when you think about them, they are not really that exciting right? Wrong! Now crates and barrels are awesome. They adapt to the stage they are on (like futuristic-looking crates and barrels in the sci-fi stafe) and also, the crates  now roll! Yes, they have wheels! So when you think you’re about to break a crate and get your oh so valuable item, you might be in for a surprise as someone might just push the crate away from you and it will start to roll down the stage.

Here’s more pics from the game showing the new crates and barrels  from the blog post over at the DOJO!!:

Brawl - Yoshi’s IslandCurrent song: “Down” by Rakim & Ken-Y

Another post about the awesomeness being posted every week over at the Smash Bros. DOJO!! is here. Why do I keep posting about the happenings over at the DOJO!!, you ask? Well first of because I don’t know what to talk about anymore and I want to have a post everyday (lol) and second, because I want to keep reminding you all how awesome the DOJO!! page is and that you should go check it out.

So anyways, today the DOJO!! was updated with pictures of the newly-drawn Yoshi’s Island stage. It’s styled to have a cel-shaded look with I think is awesome. Hope you all enjoy it. Let me know what you think about the style of the stage, okay? Here’s a link to the pics.

Brawl - Fox McCloudCurrent song: “Party Like a Rock Star” by Shop Boyz

Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for! Smash Bros. DOJO!! has put up the character profile page for my favorite character in the Smash series, Fox McCloud. Here’s a link to it, enjoy.

If you haven’t been going to Smash Bros. DOJO!!, I suggest you do. That is the official site for the new iteration in the Smash series coming to the Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The website is sort of like a blog, so they update it a couple of times a week. If you don’t have time to check the site everyday or you just forget to (like I do), be sure to subscribe to their feed with your favorite RSS reader. I suggest Google Reader, which is the one I use.

Ghost in the Shell STAND ALONE COMPLEX Solid State Society to air on the Sci-Fi channel!

June 9th, 2007

GitS SAC SSSCurrent song: “Kouga Ninpou Chou” by Onmyouza

Yes guys and girls, you read the title right. The sequel movie to Ghost in the Shell STAND ALONE COMPLEX 2nd GIG is going to be aired in the US. For those of you who don’t know what Ghost in the Shell is, don’t watch this movie. This movie is a sequel to TWO Ghost in the Shell STAND ALONE COMPLEX TV seasons, so if you watch this, you probably won’t know what the hell is going on.

But for those of you who are cool and have seen the GitS SAC TV seasons, be sure to tune in to the Sci-Fi channel this Monday night at 11PM EST to watch this movie. Also, if you by want to see the movie and by any chance miss it, the DVD will be coming out July 3, 2007 here in the US. BTW, this is not the last anime to be made in the STAND ALONE COMPLEX universe, so expect another movie or TV series soon. :-D

P.S: Just finished watching Basilisk ~Kouga Ninpou Chou~. Not as good an ending as I was hoping, but still pretty good. I recommend it to any one who’s into samurai stories from Japan’s Edo period (AKA anyone who likes Rurouni Kenshin)
